From L to R: Mayor Carl Brewer, Governor Mark Parkinson, Steve Ridolfi, David Coleal
It’s official. The state that gave birth to the Learjet legend has signed an agreement to produce the next generation in Learjet excellence. This past July, Kansas Governor Mark Parkinson and bipartisan legislative leaders unanimously approved issuance of $27 million in government-backed bonds to assist Bombardier Learjet in expanding production facilities in Wichita for assembly and marketing of the new Learjet 85 aircraft.
The state of Kansas’ generous support will help secure Learjet’s future in Wichita and ensure the success Learjet has enjoyed for over 45 years continues with the addition of new programs like the Learjet 85 aircraft. Modification plans to the Learjet campus in Wichita include an all-new paint facility, customer delivery centre, production flight test facility and expanded production hangars for the final assembly of the Learjet 85 aircraft. While the aircraft’s composite fuselage will be manufactured at Bombardier's facility in Querétaro Mexico, each subassembly will be transported to Wichita for fitting, testing and painting.
The aircraft is currently under development and the design and the design tolerances remain to be finalized and certified. The aircraft is subject to change during the course of the design, manufacture and certification process.
